The Loksatta Party- will it succeed?

The Loksatta party founded by Jayaprakash Narayan failed to motivate the people of Andhra Pradesh. The Loksatta which was started as a organisation later converted into a political party. Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan, renowned IAS, resigned from the service to fight against corruption.

He wrote articles regularly in Eenadu Telugu daily to inform people about the political and administrative failures. He always advised about the changes needed in system not in person.

But, his failure is mainly due to lack of political space for another party in the Andhra politics. It is very difficult to motivate people with integrity to enter into politics these days. Highly educated people are staying away from politics these days.

The candidates are offering money to win the elections. The voters are taking money to cast their votes. There is no room for good citizens in this vicious cycle of murky politics. As long as 20%-30% of voters are influenced by money, liquor, caste and creed, no one can change current political situation.

How to change?

There is a urgent need for reforms in the administrative and election process. Instead of concentrating on just educated people, he should try to motivate ordinary honest people. Instead of concentrating on 2009 assembly elections, he should try to change the system and try to inform people on the necessity of reforms.
